Hi all,

This is very likely going to be the last thread ever that I am going to start on the site. As the title says: we are shutting permanently on the last day of the year. When I and my my ex-colleague James Gittins started the site in 2001, we never imagined it would become such a big success. 22 years has been a very good run indeed but it is time to move on.

For the last few months, I have tried to find a serious party who could continue the site as-is and also bring sufficient commitment and resources to make the site more up-to-date again. Unfortunately these efforts have failed so I am discontinuing the site forever. I do not not have the time anymore to revive the site as is really required to make it a modern & secure platform to go into 2024 and beyond.

So what is going to happen?:

1. As of today user registrations on the site are no longer allowed. Users and guests can continue to access the site's resources as before until the end of the year.
2. On december 31st, the site will shut down. All data - user profiles, forum content, documents or other - will be removed, the VPS that is hosting the site will be erased.
3. Sometime in January 2024, the e-mail to @baanboard.com will stop working as well
4. I will keep both Internet domains baanboard.com & baanforums.com registered in my name to avoid future abuse.

What is not going to happen?:

• Data sale: do NOT contact me for any questions regarding the sale of any user data or other bits and pieces from the site. I will ignore and refuse all such demands.
• Restore of personal information/documents: do NOT ask me to retrieve a document or post you have contributed in the past from a backup, because: there simply will not be any backups anymore. If you want to save information from the site, do so before 31-dec-2023!

I hope another door will open for functional & technical LN discussions. Maybe, the Infor Communities (https://community.infor.com/ ) will finally get more LN users and become useful. For anyone who is not aware, there is a community for LN Developers (https://community.infor.com/infor-de...ln-development ). Unfortunately, many users have not figured out the subgroup concept, and they post in the main one (https://community.infor.com/infor-developers/ ). There are also several user groups for different regions and languages.

I'm probably one of the last users to have registered on this forum, only having started developing in Baan earlier last year, but this has been an invaluable source of (readily available) knowledge for problem solving.

Would love to see this kept online, even if frozen forever.

Pat this makes me sad.

Most of the initiate members moved on long ago, and by the number of visits/views/posts there still was a lot of demand, but that is something different from effort to maintain the board.

Eventually we will find a source of more data, but having to miss this one is a big loss. For me personally. And of course the fellow members, I will miss them dearly too.

i grew up with this site last 25 years. am sure no other forum can create this casual atmosphere. yes, communities is the next option, but people hardly reply there and it is more formal as Infor also participates.

i'll also miss the gurus and the camaraderie!

This site will surely remain the best of all the forums we have ever had with people ready to help anytime with their invaluable inputs and suggestions. I have made a lot of friends here and I hope we will manage to stay in touch in some or other ways.

If anyone is interested in working on this, I will be happy to get involved and save all the valuable information we have here. I've left BaaN/LN World but the abundance of knowledge resource the community has built here is magnificent and I would love to have it saved for any future reference. Coz, you never know.

Thank you Pat, for letting me become one of the Mod here when we opened up a new forum for ION. It was an absolute privilege to work with all the Mod team we had working day/night to get rid of all the spams and junks. A special mention to Mark who has offered a lot of help to all of the members here with his witty replies and so many posts, probably one of the most active person for longest of time and they have been always been a great help in Moderation.

Farewell Baanboard! You will be missed!

This forum was definitely huge for me in learning Baan. Thanks to all who have answered my questions. In later years, I hope I was able to return the favor by answering some questions. Hello Patrick, thank you very much for starting up and running such a very helpful platform that has helped us all for such a long time!

In my opinion Baanboard should now be overtaken and continued to be run by the company that benefits most from its existence and that would definitely be the Infor company.

So, anybody from Infor reading this: Please contact your chiefs and ask them to contact Patrick for a mutually agreed takeover and continuation of our beloved Baanboard!

Very sad and bad news.

I remember joining this community in my initial career period and became my favorite site. I used to ask and contribute whatever I could do.

Here I met so many Gurus and got knowledge from them.

Sometimes I quickly search for some of the stuck issues which I get here easily though my role has been changed.

Thank you Pat for bringing the knowledge-sharing portal to my career. You can think of keeping it in payment mode rather than shutting it down completely. Just a suggestion.
